Vox anyone?

Went to the US Open yesterday with the girlfriend whose company was giving away skybox access to to employees. MUCH fun was had, endless amount of liquor, food and oh my the tennis was great. Missed the Davenport match, but saw the Horna/Nadal and Williams/Hantuchova matches which ruled. Managed to catch a glimpse of Sharapova practicing (OMFG the things I would do to her… LOL) and saw the ending of the Sugiyama (way way cute in person) match. Oddly enough Carson from Queer Eye was in a box below ours! There’s a few pics up on my Flickr for anyone interested in seeing them. Will post up the fun in Queens last night on my Vox when I get home.

Anyhoo, I have a few invites to Vox if anyone is interested.

Everytime I think I’m out, they pull me back in…

Wow, talk about a spending long time away from this place.

I must admit I feel a bit awkward writing here again, but after spending some time hanging out with the ever so lovely Angie today in Philly, I realized I very badly need a place where I can talk to some friends and share what’s on my mind. After some thinking about things, I realized that there really weren’t too many people I connected with on LJ before, so I did a rather enormous friends cut (about 50 or so and I feel awful about it to be honest) and will likely get rid of a few others who are not on this filter over the next few days. From this point on, it’s strictly friends only and it’s pretty much only you ladies and gents. I’ll save my public posts for my Vox or possibly MySpace and will modify my last friend’s only message to a public post stating so.

I slowly came to the realization some time ago that I might have a little bit of a problem concerning my time with the on-line world which is why my presence was well, sort of very spotty and rare around these parts. I’ve taken a bunch of steps already (with some help of course) to tame things down a bit with my on-line addiction and it’s pretty much going very well. However, I truly did miss this place and I missed you all quite a good deal, thus the reason I will very likely be posting here again. It almost feels like I’ve been in a foreign country all of this time and I am seeing my family again after too many years away. Granted many of you have not heard a peep from me since that last post, I have still kept up as best as I could with your lives though after reading back on a large portion of your entries I have a LOT to catch up on with too many of you even with that enormous friends cut.

Now, I will MOST definitely understand if some of you wish to remove me from your friend’s list and believe me, there are NO hard feelings if you so feel like doing so. It’s been wonderful knowing you and I wish you the best in your life if you feel like parting ways. I mean, I haven’t been the best of LJ friends, so I’ll definitely understand.

Well now, since I rather dislike ending things on a sour note, here’s a couple of choice pics from the fun times in Philly with Angie. By the way Angie, I am still REAL jealous of your cell phone camera, I mean look at how awesome these pics came out!!! Damn you! 😉

Weekend recap…

Friday:
Went out with Devina to a local bar at the Westin in Princeton for some light dinner and drinks after she got her haircut. She cut it short which I personally loved since I’m not a fan of long hair on women. Makes it all that much more difficult to sneak up behind, wrap my arms around her, pull her close and lightly kiss the neck if there’s hair in the way… Ya know??

Turns out there was a cotillion there so we were entertained by the enormous amount of teens making complete asses of themselves. We chatted some and for the first time in a while, we had a relationship-free discussion mostly involving work and her business trip this week to South Beach. I honestly did not feel like bringing anything up with regards to the relationship and I am sure she liked the break from all of that talk.

Saturday:
We got up around noon and then ventured off to a local favorite diner to get some breakfast. After breakfast, I dropped her back off and wished her a safe trip. Came home, cleaned up a bit, did some laundry, played some War of Warcraft which I have not done in a while. Tried giving Devina at night a call to see how her packing was going, but forgot she was having dinner and probably spending the night with “him,” so I chatted on the phone with a few friends.

Sunday:
Very busy day… Went to the parent’s place in the morning to pick up a new set of drapes my mom made for me. Chilled with my brother and my sister showed up later on with her fiance. Turns out he started training for becoming a NJ State Trooper which is pretty awesome news since I know he’s been wanting this for years. Glad he’s got the opportunity to prove himself and I know he’s going to come out of it with flying colors and of course some fancy new PBA (or FPO) cards for me… w00t!

I stayed there later than intended so I rushed back to head to work to slap around a server’s that’s been acting like a spoiled brat. Finally got it to backup properly so I headed back home. Wanted to hit the gym, but had plans with Jane to have some dinner and she was going to introduce me to Desperate Housewives and Grey’s Anatomy. We met up at the local Whole Foods for some grub and chatted away the time talking about our day and how our weekends went. After that, I followed her back to her place where we chilled for a bit and since the shows were not on, she then introduced me to Napoleon Dynamite. I thought the movie was pretty funny and cool. She introduced me to some pretty cool on-line psychology tests where I found out I was a Mastermind or iNTJ type of guy. For the most part those analyses of me are pretty much spot on, especially with the one concerning relationships:

Personal relationships, particularly romantic ones, can be the INTJ’s Achilles heel. While they are capable of caring deeply for others (usually a select few), and are willing to spend a great deal of time and effort on a relationship, the knowledge and self-confidence that make them so successful in other areas can suddenly abandon or mislead them in interpersonal situations.

This happens in part because many INTJs do not readily grasp the social rituals; for instance, they tend to have little patience and less understanding of such things as small talk and flirtation (which most types consider half the fun of a relationship). To complicate matters, INTJs are usually extremely private people, and can often be naturally impassive as well, which makes them easy to misread and misunderstand. Perhaps the most fundamental problem, however, is that INTJs really want people to make sense. 🙂 This sometimes results in a peculiar naivete’, paralleling that of many Fs — only instead of expecting inexhaustible affection and empathy from a romantic relationship, the INTJ will expect inexhaustible reasonability and directness.

Probably the strongest INTJ assets in the interpersonal area are their intuitive abilities and their willingness to “work at” a relationship.

This line especially, “…they tend to have little patience and less understanding of such things as small talk and flirtation” is me to a “T.” I told her, I pretty much do not know how to “flirt” yet everyone says I am the biggest flirt which she agreed to. All in all though, it was a pretty interesting experience being analyzed like that. Kind of helps puts things in perspective with regards to the way I see myself and all.

After that, the second half of Grey’s Anatomy was on so we were watching that and I think I might be hooked. That’s definitely looking like a really cool show. She also gave me this pretty kick ass Weird NJ calendar she bought for me which I thought was a nice gesture.

It was getting pretty late and I had to log on to work from home, so I wound up heading out and on my way back, Devina surprised me with a call from her hotel room. We chatted for a bit about her day in South Beach and the hotel she was at. I have to admit, it felt nice getting a call from her when she is away because it’s something that she never really did after that initial call when her plane landed in the past. Heck, she even surprised me with a call last night as well which was an even bigger shocker and surprise. I wonder if I will get a call again tonight… Eh well, here’s to wishful thinking eh? 😉

Yesterday I finally hit the gym again and hit the treadmill hard (random hill setting, level 16/20, 4mph for 45 minutes then 5.5 mph jog for 5 minutes at end) and then worked the shoulders and triceps pretty good too. Would love to go again tonight, but am busy with my C.E.R.T. training which is supposed to be triage and burn victim training. Tomorrow I’m having dinner with another new MySpace friend, Chelsea, at Joe’s Crab Shack which hopefully will be fun, but depending on how long I stay there, might not have enough time to hit the gym. Then Thursday’s salsa class… Ugh.

Holy crap this is long…

Friday footnotes

You know, maybe if I do these things on Fridays, they would become a regular staple on this LJ. Bleh who am I kidding. :p

  • While I have yet to hear him on the radio (I hear he blows BTW), hearing David Lee Roth singing can have a very therapeutic effect on one’s soul. Especially when driving back from a not so hot night at salsa class while blasting “Just a Gigolo” and singing it at the top of your lungs. Wooo yeah, good times baby. Good times. “Hummala bebhuhla zeebuhla boobuhla, hummala bebhuhla zeebuhla bop. Iiiiiii ain’t got noboooooooody!” Come on, sing with me!!!
  • Looks like putting in overtime at the gym is starting to pay off. Since the last time I talked about losing weight, I’m now down to 214 pounds. While I do not really notice much of a difference, my clothes are definitely getting looser and I can see less of my gut when I look down to ummm, pee. 🙂
  • One minor drawback of the weight loss is that I am more apt to feel “cold” which is a rather disturbing feeling. I suppose though, that I would be less of an angry bear when the summer rolls around.
  • I’m rethinking my plans for a vacation this year. While I am definitely looking forward to a cruise to either Alaska or Iceland (or was it Greenland), I am thinking of going to Greece instead of taking another cruise down to like the Bahamas or something. I hear Greece is dirt cheap once you are there, which is always good. Plus, Greek women are sooo teh hawt!
  • Salsa class went less than spectacularly yesterday, although I do have an urgent plea to make of the ladies undertaking any sort of dance class. Please, PLEASE do not wear very low cut tops accenting your rather large (yet lovely) breasts and then get less than happy when the guy has no option but to look down. Yes, some of us know *not* to look, but when presented to a rather lascivious Latino, it gets REAL freaggin’ hard not to notice them. Kthnxbye!
  • It’s days like this that I am happy most of my friends are on Yahoo! or AOL IM. Having a lovely ol’ time with silentspirit passing the day away at work. Feel free to IM me any ol’ time… 🙂
  • So what exercises are good for working on one’s ass? Just saw mine in the mirror when I went to the restroom and it’s like almost not there. Of course it could be this suit that’s changing things, but I can remember a time in my recent youth when random women (and some guys, but we just won’t go there) would just walk up to me and grab my ass. I’d like for that to happen again… Scratch that, I’d like for the ladies to do that again. 😉 Anyone recommend some good exercises or machines I should be hitting more often to liven up the glutes?
  • Now, some of you may remember my whole complimenting a work mate’s foot wear debacle some time ago and then some of you were nice enough to send me photos of yourselves. Well, last night a new person from my friend’s list (who shall remain nameless) must have been going through my archives and sent me a rather ummm, delicious set of photos in some rather hot stilettos. Your submission was greatly appreciated (what?? I like shoes on a woman… Pffft). Of course, if anyone else wishes to participate, you’ll get no objections from me! Heh.
  • Woah! There’s a huge black cloud over by what seems Route 1 in Edison. I wonder if there’s a fire there? I suppose I should be getting to work sometime soon. Hope you all have a great weekend!
