Bad omen

I arrived very early at the car dealership and was very warmly greeted by the pretty cool sales people there. I wind up meeting Ken who is going to be my sales guy and we immediately hit it up. I explain to him my situation and all that and we take a walk to check out the cars he’s got for me.

I had been eyeing this pretty sweet Altima since I got there and it turns out that’s the one that was pretty much hand-picked for me. We chat for a good 3 hours about all sorts of stuff, I take my test drive, ask my billion questions and all was taken care of extremely professionally. All in all, at the end of the night, I get the keys to the car handed to me and I am merrily on my way back home with a grin as big as you can imagine.

True, it wasn’t a V6 Camry SE like I wanted, but this one isn’t half bad if I may say so myself. Decent amount of miles at a very very good price… Anyway, this isn’t the reason why I write this…

I promise you all you will get a very good laugh in a short while, but allow me to describe to you what has happened to me within the past 2 hours.

The dealership was pretty far from where I work and live (Bloomfield, NJ, exit 148) but it was no biggie to me. So when I was leaving, I happened to take the Garden State parkway to get back down to Devina’s to show off the wheels. Merrily I drive along blasting Green Day and singing at the top of my lungs when I happen to notice the rest stop for Exit 172 on the Parkway on my left hand side… I then realize that in my excitement I did not notice that I was going the wrong way on the Parkway and in fact was a good 15-20 miles from my point of entry. SOOOO, I hop into the rest stop and fill up the tank for the very first time…

I wasn’t bothered by it because I actually like the way this car drives. However, I had a 60 mile commute back to my place…

As I drive merrily along yet again, I happen to notice out of the side of my eye one of those lovely State Troopers hiding ever so stealthily in the bushes on the side of the road near exit 138… I look down and notice that I was doing 87 miles per hour…

That’s funny… It didn’t feel like I was driving 87 miles per hour…

Hmmm, that’s even funnier… The cop just happened to pull out of his lair of doom…

Oh shit… He’s right behind me and the lights are on…

Mind you, I have had the car less than an hour at this point and already I am getting pulled over…

[oh, I know you SOB’s are laughing your ass off about now]

The very tall officer happens to approach my vehicle and asks me for my driver’s license, registration and insurance.

Me: “Ummm, I don’t know where the insurance is officer.” *fumbles around car*

Officer: “What do you mean you don’t know where the insurance is?”

Me: *sheepishly* “Well, I actually just got this car an hour ago and I don’t even know where half the stuff is in here now.”

Officer: *so fighting the urge to laugh at my dumb ass* “Take your time…”

I could swear I heard him break a giggle when he was walking away with my insurance papers to his car.

Well, I figure at this point, he’ll be an ok guy and let me go without the points and just the fine. About 20 minutes later, he comes back and hands me my ticket and sends me off. Again, I could swear I hear him giggle when he walks away…

Damn…

So, I’m guessing I must now own the record for fastest traffic ticket received after obtaining a new vehicle. Is there anywhere that I can verify this?? How’s that for a bad omen folks??

Anyway, I have to get insurance tomorrow morning for my car and this is going to go over so well with the agent. Ten bucks says they laugh their ass off while I am on the phone with them. :sigh: Is this ticket going to appear on my driving record as of tomorrow morning? Or does the officer have to pop the info into the system after he does his reports or something? I’m going to call up tomorrow to find out how long the information takes to get into the system. Hopefully, it will take a few days and by that time I would have already had my insurance. *crosses fingers*

Again, this is something only I can possibly do… :sigh:

At the very least, I hope I at least brightened someone’s day with my tale of stupidity. 😀

  1. Oh man I needed that laugh. hehehehheee
What is all this talk about points? It takes forever to get a ticket on your record over here and then as soon as take care of it, it disappears. I hope AZ is like TX in that sense.

  2. That is the BEST story I’ve heard today. Thanks for brightening up my day. Geez you have some luck there. Unbelievable! Maybe you can make it into the Guiness Book for fastest ticket straight out of the car dealership! 🙂

  3. LOL @ you Dave! GEEEEEEK! Hahah 🙂 Well, I don’t think it’ll show up on your driving record. I think that if you got points off, then that means that it goes on your record. Just plain fines I think don’t go on master file.
