Friday Five baby!
How long have you had a weblog?
Well, the domain name is two years old, but I did not create my blog until sometime in June 2001 year when I got laid off from my old job. After I finished the coding, I did not start writing until that October if I am correct. No wait, I just saw an entry dated September 1st.
What was your first post about?
Nothing in particular, just some ego-boosting post about coding the site all by hand and China Chow.
How many changes (name, location, etc.) of your weblog have there been, if more than one?
The layout, name and premise is all the same. I have removed some of the original add-ons like the guest book, stories area and sound-off board because they were not generating the traffic to substantiate keeping them. The actual machine holding the site though crashed fatally twice. Luckily, both times I did not manage to lose the content. However, the machine is now with me at work so that I can keep careful watch over it. 🙂
What CMS (content management system) do you use? Do you like it or do you want to try something else?
I use my own hand-coded ASP/VBScript code all tied into a SQL database on my own home-built Windows 2000 Advanced Server server. On my hosting server however, my hostees (and myself for a couple of weeks) use the newest version of Movable Type tied into MySQL. I do very little backend coding here at work, so this site also serves to keep my skills in check. I wouldn’t dream of using any other CMS unless I wanted to code this site in let’s say JSP, PHP or ColdFusion to learn something else.
Do you read people who have both a journal and a weblog? Or do you prefer to read people who have all of their writing in one central place?
As far as I know, only two of the people I read have more than one thing they write into. Personally, I’d rather get all of my information in one place though which is why there are very little people I read that keep more than one journal of sorts.
I just couldn’t resist
I’m continually amazed at the lack of common sense with a lot of people. I mean did we seriously have to make a study to make us aware that very narcissistic people are lousy for relationships?? Want to know more, check it out here.
Next there will be a study proving that cheating on your spouse will make them want to divorce you. How brilliant. Sheesh.
