My 4th of July weekend

monday mission v2.27 baby!

Have you had to repair anything lately? Did you do it yourself or have someone else do it?
Look below at my July 4th break rundown. 🙂 However, I am always repairing PC’s here @ work.

Do you work out or exercise? Or is there anything you do each day for your health?
I used to be a part of a gym a couple of years back. With work and all though, it got harder going especially on those long nights when I got back and the gym was closed. I am planning on getting a BowFlex sometime next month though. One of my friends has one and it’s a really sweet little machine. I am always very good with home exercise equipment so it’s always going to get used. Hopefully by this time next year I’ll be down to my ideal weight again and sportin’ a nice six pack! *w00t*

Are you a modest person? That is, would you be embarrassed for someone (an acquaintance, a friend, a stranger) to see you nude?
I am a horribly shy person when I first meet people or am thrown into a social situation where I do not know anyone. Oddly enough, I wouldn’t be as embarrassed seen nude as the other person frightened at noticing my flabby Latino ass. 😆 I don’t even want to get into some of the stuff I pulled in the buff when I was younger and attached.

Some smells that I just can not stand are bags of grass clippings that have sat in the hot sun for a few days, burned hair and vomit (although, thankfully, I have not had to smell them all at the same time). what are some odors that you just can not stand to smell?
Scott nailed it right on the head for me… New York City streets in the summertime and the subways any ol’ day.

Are there any social situations that make you uncomfortable?
Only when I do not know anyone in this particular social situation. I’m what you call a wallflower at parties. 🙁

Has a friend or an employer ever asked you to do something you felt was unethical or? What was it and what happened?
In the computer field, especially in web development, you are almost always presented with ethical situations regarding individuals’ and clients’ privacy. Almost always you let them know the deal, however in situations where a lot of money and contracts are involved, they just get thrown by the wayside. As for moral issues, well, I have been known to make some very poor choices in my life thus far. If anything however, I became a much stronger person for choosing the wrong path and learning from those mistakes.

(continued) Well, we are not yet at our destination, though the way you described it, it sounds simply amazing. What is the first thing we should do once we get there?
Huh?? Hmmm… strip and play drunken twister?? Now that’s a ton of fun!

BONUS: In this whole world, what is fair?
Nowadays, nothing’s fair anymore. 🙁

Wow… My first July post. 🙂

This weekend was rather tiring to say the least but completely productive. 🙂 Since Devina moved into a new place a couple of weeks ago, we decided the bulk of the moving in stuff was going to be done this weekend. It mostly involved me doing most of the manual labor and her supervising. Hehe… I didn’t mind though. I like feeling like a “guy” every once in a while going ape shit building stuff without the use of manuals. 🙂 Anywho, the list of stuff done by moi is below:

  • Set up her little entertainment center
  • Re-papered her kitchen shelves
  • Installed a new handheld shower head, shower caddy, cleaned out the tub/toilet
  • Vacuumed the entire apartment
  • Cleaned all of the windows

We also did a whole mess of stuff that I just didn’t write because it’s normal run of the mill stuff. She got a little upset at me for getting her a decent cutlery set and phone for her new place as a housewarming gift from me because of their prices. however, after she first used the knives, she quickly forgave me. 🙂 Hey, if I am gonna cook there, I needs myself some decent equipment no?? Hell, if I got her set I really wanted, (Errr… I mean her ) she’d kill me. 😆

That was Friday and Saturday. Yesterday, we just were lazy asses and watched dvd’s we rented from Blockbuster. We wound up renting out 2001: A Space Odyssey, Lethal Weapon: The Director’s Cut, American History X, Monster’s Ball, The Last Castle and The Rocky Horror Picture Show: 25th Anniversary Edition. Yeah I know, quite an eclectic selection eh? 😆 First off I gotta say this… Monster’s Ball was a good flick, but I really do not see why she got the best actress title for her role in it. For that matter Denzel definitely did not deserve it for Training Day as well. Now he did deserve it for quite a few roles he did before such as Malcolm X and The Hurricane, but for Training Day?? Come on… That’s just a joke.

Anywho, I am a little upset at a lot of the choices director’s make when they release their movies. Especially, when I see the deleted scenes in the dvd version of most films out there. Is it time constraints or some other dumb reason that these deleted scenes do not make it to the final cut of the film? Case in point is the full version of Terminator 2: Judgment Day. Sure it adds 20 minutes or so to the final movie, but those deleted scenes were key elements in developing the plot and relationship between John Connor and the cyborg sent to protect him. Especially the scene with Arnold learning how to smile for the first time.

Another great movie that needed it’s deleted scenes was High Fidelity. Especially the deleted scene where John Cusak describes little boys and adult women. Also, the scene where he’s describing the “asshole” part outside of the bar and he makes you think about the times you did it. Both of these would have made the movie immensely better, yet they were removed.

This whole argument started while I was watching the director’s cut of Lethal Weapon. It seems there were 7 minutes missing from the beginning that did a wonderful job of developing Gibson’s and Glover’s characters very early in the movie. If you get a chance, rent it out (that is if you like Lethal Weapon, Devina hated it ) and you’ll see what I mean within 15 minutes of the film. Eh well… Thank god for deleted scenes in dvd version of movies that we all know and love. It’s amazing how much better a movie can be with the extra minutes of material.

Yo I know what it is like to do the “manly” assembly line stuff hahaha I usually put everything together, AND I mainly do all the cooking. I love cooking! 🙂 She doesn’t mind, but she likes mine. 🙂 And those movies were excellent picks..I like Rocky Horror, and 2001 rocks!! I thought I was the only one that watched that anymore hahaha I also like American History X, very good movie. Well, just stoppin by Dave, later bud! 🙂

My thing with Monster’s Ball was that I thought the plot was a little unbelievable and I couldn’t believe all the crap she went through. I think Halle Berry did an excellent job portraying the emotions of a downtrodden woman. Her performance was excellent in that regard. Was her nudity a bit excessive? I would have to say a little but it showed that sex is sometimes gritty and raw. It’s not pretty with romantic candlelight, etc.

You got Devina a knife set?!?!?! Uh oh! Watch out she doesn’t get mad at you. 8-P~ 😉

Hey, welcome back! I was beginning to wonder where you were — figured it was vacation.

I liked Monster’s Ball more than I thought I would. The one that blew us away, though, was Moulin Rouge — we thoroughly expected to hate it and were stunned by it, instead. Good flick.

High Fidelity rocks. Then again, John Cusack rocks. 🙂

You’re right. Any city on a hot, hazy, and humid day is disgusting. Subways are nasty mainly because of the people who piss in them. That’s got to be the worst smell ever. Subway piss.
